Promise Partnership

Middle school program

At the Crescent Valley Resource Centre, middle school students participate in hands-on activities and receive personalized support based on their academic and language needs, and the Middle School Technology Curriculum. Promise staff collaborate with local technology teachers to ensure the activities align with the school program. Through these opportunities, Promise aims to bridge the educational gap that students in low-income communities face daily.

UNB student mentors partner with youth and model how to approach challenges and enjoy exploring digital technologies that support learning.

Under the guidance of our middle school coordinator, the program offers homework help, language support, digital literacy, and interactive projects. These include textile exploration (e.g., crocheting), culinary activities, and digital projects such as Minecraft Education and coding. Two youth work with a student coordinator to prepare healthy, budget-friendly snack-sized meals for the group during most sessions. Snacks are provided for each session.

Sessions are held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the fall and winter semesters.

Promise is grateful for the support of CVRC staff and space.
