Promise Partnership

Together we can make a difference

Your donation to the Promise Partnership can change lives. By giving, you help youth and families get the support they need to do well in school.

Your generosity helps us provide digital literacy and mentoring programs that make sure every child has the chance to succeed.

Make an impact

  • Needs assessment and research: Donations help conduct needs assessment and research aimed at developing, piloting and scaling the program throughout New Brunswick in collaboration with local educational institutions.

  • After-school mentoring programs: Enable one-on-one and small group mentoring for students from kindergarten through grade 12. These programs are tailored to each student's needs, with a strong focus on literacy, math and overall academic achievement.

  • Discovery summer camp and evening programs: For grades 4 - 10. A child’s success in school is closely linked to the support they receive at home and the encouragement to pursue higher education. This support is provided through hands-on science and engineering experiences, workshops, one-on-one guidance and access to educational materials.

  • Educational technology: Donations help equip students with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their learning experience, providing materials and support that make a real difference in their academic journey. 3D printers and filament, iPads and educational apps, laptops, robotics (Ozobots, Dash and Dot, Sphero, Makebot, coding mouse), Micro bits, Minecraft education, Osmo, Green Screen, Cricut (vinyl cutter and tools), Snap Circuits (circuitry), button maker, binding machine, sewing machine etc...

  • Post-secondary preparation: For high school students, we offer specialized programs to help them prepare for life after graduation. This includes assistance with university and college applications, scholarship searches and career planning.

  • Experiential learning for post secondary students: Your donations will help recruit and train mentors or volunteers who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge, with a focus on incorporating digital literacy into our programs.

  • Food support: We are seeking donations to support our mentoring programs, where each session provides children with nutritious snacks, essential for their focus and well-being. In the Middle School Technology Curriculum, culinary is one of the subject areas. Our grade 6 - 12 students have the opportunity to create snacks for themselves and their peers, building life skills that foster collaboration and creativity. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and your contributions will ensure that all children, especially those in areas of low socio-economics, can benefit from these nourishing experiences.

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, The Promise Partnership has already seen remarkable success.

In January 2024, we launched our groundbreaking Digital Literacy Pilot with the Promise Partnership youth. This initiative is built on cutting-edge research and a comprehensive Needs Assessment conducted with parents, teachers, principals, UNB students, and the children we serve. Through this program, students will gain valuable skills in digital citizenship, computational thinking, collaboration, and more, aligned with the NB Digital Literacy Framework.

Our commitment includes providing digital literacy programs and nutritious snacks to 100% of the students enrolled in our mentoring program. We are happy to be working with UNB Nursing with a new Digital Health and Wellness program aimed at Grade 3-5 students. We have close to 100 students participating in our elementary program making about 80% of all students of Hazen White Saint Francis School. Additionally, we are supporting up to 45 middle school students in our outreach and Discovery programs with life skills and digital literacy projects, tailored to the NB Middle School Curriculum, and fostering computational thinking, collaboration, communication, fostering responsibility. We are also aiming to have up to 30 high school students in the Crescent Valley area in our new mentoring program at the Trojan Rugby Centre - bringing our program close to their homes.

Starting September 2024, we are excited to introduce UNIV1005 Fall, an experiential learning program where UNB students from various faculties—such as Social Work, Education, Engineering, and MBA—will mentor youth in our program. This program expansion, previously only available in the Winter semester, will now offer even more opportunities for student engagement and impact.
