Sound it out is an eight-week, in-person therapy group that uses music and sound to explore mental health, emotions and personal experiences. Music can offer a different way of understanding ourselves, sometimes reaching feelings or insights that are hard to put into words.
Participants will be guided through a range of activities that may include listening, reflection, discussion and simple creative exercises. The focus is on self-awareness, connection, and personal growth, rather than musical ability.
No prior musical experience is needed. This group is designed to be welcoming, supportive, and accessible to anyone who is curious about using music as part of their therapeutic process.
Evening clinic is not available from May - August.
The UNB Counselling Services Evening Clinic for Fredericton undergraduate students is fully funded by the UNBSU. We provide confidential mental health support using a brief therapy model that can help with a wide range of personal and mental health challenges.
We are offering a limited number of appointments on Wednesday evenings available to UNB undergraduate students who have paid UNB Student Union fees.

I have had the privilege of counselling UNB and STU students at UNB Counselling Services since 2009. I love working in a campus community and appreciate the diversity of individuals within it.
University fosters a great deal of growth, resilience and change and I am grateful to help guide and support students along their university journey. In sessions I aim to provide a safe, empathic and comfortable environment for students. I bring sincerity, humour, connection, mindfulness, curiosity, goofy analogies, a background in team environments and athletics to support students and challenge them to build upon their skills and strengths.
In addition to counselling, I facilitate a variety of events through the Positive Mental Health Team. These events are fun, interactive and promote wellness, social health and community building and are open to all students on campus. I hope to see you there!

I am originally from the ever-so-distant shores of Moncton, New Brunswick, though I have called the capital region my home now for over a decade. In counselling, I tend to vary my approach between cognitive-behavioural and interpersonal techniques based on need.
I also have a very strong penchant for tenets of positive psychology and will often work to focus sessions on things like creativity, personal growth and prosocial behaviour. I am fluently bilingual and can offer counselling in both French and English on request.

I am from Saint John, N.B. and am happy to join the UNB Counselling team after working and studying in post-secondary support in Ottawa and overseas. I like to bring warmth, curiosity, humour and creative energy to my engagement with students. I believe students have deep resources of inner wisdom and strength that when drawn upon and cultivated can lead to a healthier, more meaningful and satisfying life.
Helping make the university a welcoming place for First Nations students, first-generation students and international students is something I value. I am LGBTQ+ positive and open to ways of being which may be different from mainstream societal expectations. When I’m not at UNB, I enjoy going out to see live music, walking in nature, connecting with family and friends, and crafting.

As the Mental Health Strategist, I am responsible for helping UNB craft a comprehensive, multi-component and targeted plan to support student well-being and mental health across campus.
I've previously worked at UNB in the Student Accessibility Centre and spent several years at NBCC before returning to UNB for my current role. When not at work, I enjoy making experimental soups, playing complicated board and card games and practicing yoga.

I am from Brazil and worked there as a clinical psychologist for 10 years before coming to Canada in 2021 to attend UNB as an international student.
While doing my master’s in counselling, I worked on a project with QTBIPOC Students at UNB and at the Multicultural Association of Fredericton, developing presentations about diversity, inclusion and anti-racism.
As a counsellor I use a holistic view and a combination of evidence-based interventions. However, the most important thing for me is to offer a warm and safe space for students to share their concerns.
I believe that everyone is unique, and I feel honoured to walk alongside my clients on their journey to change. I provide counselling in either English or Portuguese!

Home for me has been many places—India, Africa, and now, for over two decades, Canada.
I consider my counselling approach to be client-centred, strengths-based, and diversified, to meet the unique needs of students. I hope to provide a warm, safe, and compassionate space where I can work collaboratively with students to assist them in accepting themselves, making healthy choices in all aspects of their lives, and helping them reach their full potential. I feel honoured to be part of a student’s healing journey. I can provide counselling in either English or Hindi.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, collecting (cool) rocks on the beach, reading, and rewatching Marvel movies!

I'm a former international student originally from the United States and have been living and working on Wolastoqey land since 2008.
I have had the privilege of working with university students for over 10 years. I believe in empowering students by helping them harness their strengths and values while respecting them as the experts of their own lives. I strive to provide a safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed space for each of my clients in a way that is meaningful to them. Drawing from multiple therapeutic approaches, I work with the client's expertise on what works for them to co-create a path forward for students.
When not in the office, I am often found hiking, travelling, gaming, baking, and hanging out with my rabbit.

I have been with Counselling Services since 2004 and love helping students! I also love working with our team to provide the best service to students possible. In addition to helping students, I am the plant caretaker at Counselling and routinely send students home with a little baby plant of their very own.
When I’m not on the 2nd Floor of the CC Jones Student Services Centre, I can most likely be found at the local hockey arena or cuddling with my rescue Beagle, Beau.

I am originally from Winnipeg, MB, and moved to the Maritimes over 10 years ago, which I now consider home. I have a background in psychosocial care, health, trauma, grief and loss, and have worked in healthcare, community and not for profit settings.
I enjoy delivering workshops, keynote speaking, as well as facilitating therapeutic groups on the topics of (but not limited to), mindfulness, self-care/self-compassion, stress management and coping skills, healthy boundaries, loss, and adjusting to a new normal. I strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment that is student-goal focused whether this be through individual sessions or group programming. I believe strongly in the mind-body connection and feel treating the whole person (physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health) is very important in order to reach optimal overall health and well-being.
In my downtime I can be found at the beach, enjoying nature, and exploring the world through the eyes of a toddler. I enjoy connection and strive to live a balanced lifestyle.

My approach to counselling is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration, ensuring that each client feels valued and understood as we work together to explore their unique experiences and foster meaningful growth.
I take a holistic approach, addressing the interconnectedness of mental, emotional and physical well-being. With five years of experience working in a post-secondary setting, coupled with my background as a student and student athlete, I can relate to the challenges and pressures that university life can present.
I believe that everyone has inherent strengths and resilience, and I look forward to helping students harness these qualities to navigate their challenges and achieve their goals.
Outside of counselling you can find me on the soccer field, hiking with my dog, cuddling with my cat or spending time with friends and family.

I grew up in New Brunswick, and after adventures that took me across the world, I’m grateful to be back, continuing my journey as a counsellor-in-training. I’ve always been curious about what it means to be fully human — body, mind, heart, and spirit — and I believe healing happens most deeply when all of these layers are welcomed.
In counselling, I take a holistic, person-centered approach, drawing from mindfulness, somatic awareness, and psychoeducation. I deeply honor the wisdom of the body and the power of presence, and I aim to create a safe, compassionate space where students can reconnect with their own inner light, resilience, and curiosity. I also bring a background in sound healing and group facilitation, which helps me explore the many ways people can access calm, clarity, and connection.
Outside of counselling, you’ll often find me singing, playing with my sound bowls, wandering in the woods, or laughing with friends. I love creative play, and I especially enjoy writing sketch comedy, doing improv, and — yes — I’ve even tried stand-up (once!).

As a student intern enrolled in the Master of Education in Counselling, working at UNB Counselling Services, I bring a strong foundation in compassionate care shaped by my degree in Nursing and my experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
I am dedicated to supporting the mental and physical well-being of the students I serve, with a particular passion for contributing meaningfully to their daily health, balance, and resilience in a space filled with invitation.
What guides my approach is a belief that being human is more than a beating heart—it’s about how we choose to live that rhythm within our communities. I strive to apply that heartbeat in a way that fosters exploration, connection, understanding, and holistic support for every individual I work with.

I am currently in the process of completing my M.Ed in Counselling and am excited and honoured to be completing my internship through UNB Counselling Services. I was born and raised on the East Coast and bring over ten years of experience working with students in secondary schools.
As a counsellor, I draw from a person-centered approach, with a goal of supporting clients in navigating challenges and harnessing their strengths. I aim to provide a space for students to feel safe and empowered through connection, mindfulness, self-discovery, coping strategies, and (when appropriate) humour!
Outside of my role as a counselling intern and student I enjoy teaching dance, doing yoga, gaming, spending time with loved-ones or hanging out with my two crazy dogs.

My approach to counselling is grounded in genuine connection. I believe people know themselves best, and I feel honoured whenever someone shares part of their world with me. I focus on creating a space where students feel heard, supported, and able to explore what matters to them at their own pace.
With many years of experience as a teacher and school counsellor, I am grateful for the chance to support this community. My work is guided by an understanding of how relationships and past experiences shape us, and I always try to meet each person where they are, adapting my approach to their hopes and needs. I aim to offer a steady, compassionate presence on the good days and the hard ones and walk alongside students navigating life’s many journeys.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking in the woods, reading, and reminding my dog (repeatedly) to “leave it!” when she sees a squirrel.

Originally from Ottawa, I moved to the East Coast in 2017 and am now grateful to live as a guest on Wolastoqey land here in Fredericton.
I believe we all have nobility and strength inside of us, and important stories to tell, and in counselling I strive to create a safe environment in which we can explore these things creatively and collaboratively. Based on your needs and your interests, we can work together to find what will be helpful for you right now. My background is in music therapy, which I draw on in my work from time to time. I align with counselling approaches that acknowledge the whole person: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and in the context of our communities.
Some things that make me happiest are forest walks, swimming in lakes, playing music, and making things with my hands."

I have called Fredericton home since 2009 and worked in the mental health sector through a variety of settings, including public education and private practice. As a lifelong learner who thrives on creation and innovation, I’m thrilled to be working with the Counselling team at UNB, as it allows me to unite my therapeutic skillset with my passion for education.
I am a certified in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and value a client-centered approach. My main objective is to provide a safe environment where you can feel heard, supported, and accepted. I favour strengths-based, solution-focused techniques to make the counselling experience both positive and productive in strengthening mental health and wellness.
