Microsoft Teams

Teams is supported by two units at UNB: ITS (Information Technology Services) and CETL (Centre for Enhanced Teaching & Learning).

Students can join and participate in a Teams meeting using:

  • Microsoft Teams (desktop or web app)
  • A meeting link only (no downloads or software required)

Zoom

For a select number of courses and programs, Zoom is used as the alternative web conferencing solution for live, online ‘virtual’ classes.

Zoom is supported by UNB’s ITS (Information Technology Services).

Students can attend Zoom sessions as a guest (using their email address) or using a free or Basic account, while Instructors may use a Licensed or Pro account. Read more about the differences between the account types.

Zoom for beginners (students and instructors)

Zoom for instructors

To conduct sessions lasting longer than 40 minutes (a limitation of a Basic account), instructors can request a Pro or Licensed account from ITS.

Because Microsoft Teams is the default service for web and video conferencing at UNB, any instructor requesting a UNB-provided Pro account must submit a request to ITS at itservicedesk@unb.ca and provide a justification for its use.
