UNB completed negotiations for collective agreements with four unions – the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT), Unifor, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) – within the past year.
As an employer, UNB is committed to achieving agreements that are fair, reasonable and that will strengthen our university for the benefit of students and employees. Considering the challenging fiscal environment all parties were able to reach mutually beneficial settlements that build on the long, productive relationships that have developed over many years.
UNB and Unifor Local 4504 ratified 39-month renewals to collective agreements for both Unifor units on June 27, 2016.
Unifor Local 4504 represents approximately 300 staff providing a range of important support services in two separate bargaining units on the UNB Fredericton campus.
UNB ratified a new four-year collective agreement with the AUNBT Full-Time membership on July 19, 2016.
The new agreement included scheduled salary increases every six months and revisions to bereavement leave, research and other policies.
UNB and PSAC Local 60550 Union of Graduate Student Workers voted in favour of ratifying a renewal of their collective agreement on Nov. 24, 2016.
The new agreement included an eight-year term which will provide labour stability and predictable wage increases until 2021.
UNB voted in favour of ratifying a new four-year collective agreement with AUNBT Contract Academic Employees (CAE) membership on Dec. 14, 2016.
The new agreement provided for significant improvements in several areas, among them stipend rates and access to technology for instructional use.
CUPE Local 3339 signed a four-year renewal collective agreement on Aug. 23, 2017.
CUPE Local 3339 represents approximately 55 support staff employees on the Saint John campus performing work in the following categories: clerical, secretarial, library assistant, tradespeople, labourers and technicians.
