Are you ready to pursue a career in psychology? UNB Saint John’s psychology thesis-based MA and PhD graduate programs can teach you the advanced research and statistical skills to succeed. Our program combines coursework, independent research, and collaborations with supervisors to give you a well-rounded understanding of experimental psychology.
At the heart of our graduate program are the relationships between our students and their graduate supervisors. At UNB Saint John, you will work closely with your primary supervisor to develop your research plan. Your supervisor is there to support both your thesis and your other research interests. From the first term in the program you will work closely with your supervisor to design a program that meets yours needs.
Our graduate students can conduct basic and applied research. Recent students have conducted basic and applied projects examining psychosocial correlates of disordered eating, healthy aging, multisensory perception, food insecurity in Canadians and evaluation of different opioid treatment models.
Psychology faculty have expertise in all areas of neuroscience and psychology. Our students conduct research in areas such as:
From your first year of graduate school you will have the opportunity to present your research at regional, provincial, national and international conferences. Every year psychology graduate students travel to attend conferences, such as the Canadian Psychology Association, the International Congress of Psychological Science and the International Psychological Applications Conference and Trends.
After completing graduate degrees, our students have gone on to successful careers in a variety of settings. Our graduates have been successful in developing diverse career paths in universities, research centres, hospitals, government agencies, non-profits and community outreach organizations.
Our MA graduates are regularly accepted into competitive professional and PhD programs. Some of our recent graduates have been accepted to PhD programs in experimental and clinical psychology, and health-related programs, including medicine, dentistry and social work.
