At the University of New Brunswick, we are committed to driving innovation and excellence in the construction industry through education and research. Our upcoming Advanced Methods of Construction (AMC) certificate is designed to equip students and professionals looking to further their education with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving field of off-site construction.
AMC will provide a comprehensive education in off-site construction, also known as modular or prefabricated construction. This method involves manufacturing building components or modules in a controlled facility and assembling them on-site, leading to benefits such as increased efficiency, reduced waste, improved quality, and enhanced safety. Our courses will cover key themes including:
AMC will be offered as both a graduate-level certificate and diploma, tailored for working professionals with a background in construction, or for incoming graduate students looking to dive deeper into the field of off-site construction.
AMC will aim to stand out by involving industry in participation and instruction, ensuring that students gain practical, hands-on experience. Instructors and mentors will be sought from industry, providing real-world insights, and fostering a deep understanding of current challenges and opportunities in off-site construction.
AMC aligns with UNB’s strategic goals to expand online, micro-credential, and professional learning opportunities. We aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, promoting the adoption of advanced construction methods that enhance sustainability, efficiency, and quality in the construction sector.
While we are in the process of finalizing the details, we are excited about the impact it will have on the construction industry.
