During SOAR, you'll have the opportunity to meet and connect with your future classmates, creating lasting friendships before your first semester even begins.
This welcoming environment ensures you're set up for success, easing any uncertainties and giving you the tools you need to thrive as you begin this exciting new chapter of your academic journey.
- Don't forget to set up your IT services prior to coming to SOAR
- Our campus store will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Collect your UCard: Your UCard is more than just your student ID card - it is your library card, cash card, door key and more. Submit your photo by Monday, May 19 and your UCard will be ready to pick up during SOAR at the UNB Security Office. Don't forget to bring a government issued photo ID with you to pick up your UCard.
- Are you planning to visit from away? Book your accommodations in residence and try out life on campus.
- If you're a transfer student, we recommended you book an appointment with your academic advisor.
SOAR is for parents and supporters, too
Parents and supporters are invited to attend SOAR with your student. We know that your student starting university is a transition for you, too, and we want you to know what to expect.
What can you expect from your SOAR experience?
SOAR will include a series of different programs for both incoming students and their parents and supporters:
- Faculties will host specific programming for students. Meet faculty and staff, and other future students in your future learning environments.
- Advising and registration sessions will take place in a computer lab with an academic advisor to walk you through the degree information and recommended courses for first year students, and the online Student Planning and Registration system. You are encouraged to bring your own device (tablet, laptop, phone) and set up your IT services prior to SOAR.
- Parents and supporters will have specific programming to answer as many of your questions as we can and help you to navigate this transition. We will have a panel of our university experts available addressing our most asked questions by students, parents and supporters.
- There will be information stations: We will have trade-show style booths highlighting services and supports across campus. They have some fun activities planned.
- Residence and campus tours will be available for drop-in tours.
- The student representative council, clubs and societies, varsity sports athletes and campus recreation will show you how to get involved on campus. They will have some fun activities planned.
