Let's get your account activated:

  1. Launch the activate your account app to get started

    Activate your account

  2. Fill out the following details and click ‘Continue’:
    • Your 7-digit student number
    • Your login ID (without @unb.ca)
    • Your birth date
  3. Accept UNB’s Acceptable Use of Technologies Policy
  4. Create your UNB password
  5. Create two challenge questions
  6. Set your privacy options. It’s recommended you have your email address displayed in the phonebook so your instructors can easily reach you
  7. Choose your UNB email address. Don’t include your login ID or student number in your email address. Many people choose firstname.lastname@unb.ca so it’s easy for others to remember.

Account activated? Let’s move on to Step 2.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an extra layer of security required to access UNB services like email, Teams, OneDrive and the MyUNB Intranet.

Set up your MFA

Trouble with your MFA? Try one of these tips.

Once you've set up MFA, move to Step 3.

Before you begin: sign out of other Microsoft accounts (i.e. personal or other academic institution accounts)

  1. Go to the MyUNB Intranet
  2. Enter your UNB login ID (i.e. a1b2c@unb.ca) – don’t forget the @unb.ca
  3. Click ‘Next
  4. Enter your UNB password
  5. Click ‘Sign in
  6. Approve the sign-in request using MFA
  7. You're ready to go!

Having trouble signing in?

  • Tip 1: Make sure you're signing in with your UNBloginID@unb.ca (i.e. a1b2c@unb.ca) – not your UNB email address (i.e. name.name@unb.ca). If you're logged in with a personal account or an academic account other than UNB, be sure to sign out

  • Tip 2: Clear your browser cache and cookies
Instructions: Firefox | Chrome | Safari | Edge

  • Tip 3: Log in using a private browser or in ‘incognito’ mode
Instructions: From your web browser, go to ‘File’ or the 'three dots' menu > ‘New Private Window’ or ‘New Incognito Window’

  • Tip 4: Try a different web browser. If you regularly use Firefox to access your other Microsoft accounts, use Chrome strictly for your UNB IT Services
