These videos communicate the idea that challenges and worries about success and belonging are normal, common to most students and with time and effort can be overcome.
This video series has two goals:
Women are underrepresented in STEM faculties across North America. Belonging projects such as these can be a part of the strategy to recruit and retain more women into STEM faculties.
Cornell University used similar videos as part of their strategy to increase enrolment and retention of women in their College of Engineering and achieved a historic enrolment rate of 50% women for the 2018-19 academic year.
