On March 21, a piece of New Brunswick reached new heights when UNB’s CubeSat NB VIOLET hitched a ride to the International Space Station (ISS) on a SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft.
Cassandra “Cassie” Pitchford (BScEng’24) struggled with her engineering classes at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) when her hearing rapidly and unexpectedly started to deteriorate. She sometimes questioned if she would ever walk across the graduation stage to get her diploma. In the end, she not only accomplished that but became a skilled advocate.
Dr. Olga Palazhchenko led her Introduction to Nuclear Engineering students on a detailed tour of the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, offering insights into nuclear energy production and plant operations, while highlighting career opportunities in the field.
UNB hosted its 10th annual Engineering Design Symposium on April 4, 2024, where 181 students presented 46 innovative capstone projects addressing various practical challenges, showcasing their skills in teamwork, planning, and design under the guidance of professors and industry mentors.
University of New Brunswick engineering students developed a force myography device that captures arm muscle movements to improve human-machine interaction, with potential applications in prosthetics, exoskeletons, and smart home devices.
