The psychology PhD program in the University of New Brunswick’s Department of Psychology prepares students for employment in a wide variety of scientific, academic and applied settings. (Note the psychology program was known as the experimental psychology program prior to Fall 2024.) The program follows an apprenticeship model where students are exposed to individualized research experiences, both with the individual’s supervisor and in potential collaborations with other faculty members. For students interested in pursuing an academic career, we offer a unique opportunity to take part in a teaching apprenticeship.
The goal of doctoral training in the psychology PhD program is to produce research psychologists capable of productive and creative scholarship and academic activities in their chosen areas of interest. Graduates of our program are employed in both academic and non-academic positions including academia, public policy (e.g., government), health and human health care and the private sector.
