This seminar is also offered as part of the Human Resources Management Program.

This seminar provides an understanding of the major elements of training and development, including needs analysis, program design, training methods and evaluation of the effectiveness of an organization's training and development initiatives.

You will learn how to identify the links between your organization's business objectives, its training and development strategy and its employees' career management strategies.

Upon successful completion of this seminar, you will be able to:

  • Describe the importance of training and development as part of the long-range strategy of an organization
  • Explain approaches to needs analysis in the design of training and development programs
  • Describe learning principles associated with training techniques
  • Discuss evaluation procedures used to assess the results of training and development
  • Explain the difference between training and development

About the instructor

Suzanne Desrosiers is currently the Vice-President of Human Resources at NB Power. Before NB Power, she was the VP of Employee and Student Development at the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).

Suzanne holds a BBA from the Université de Moncton, a Master's in Education (Counseling and Human Development) from the University of New Brunswick and recently completed a postgraduate certificate in Executive Coaching at Royal Roads University.

She is a seasoned human resource professional with particular expertise in recruitment, labour relations, human resources planning, career counseling and coaching. Suzanne is known as a relationship builder who strives to understand different points of view to achieve the best people-centered solutions.
