Associated Alumni welcomes new president

On July 1, the Associated Alumni welcomed its new president Peter Syroid (BScEng’98, MBA‘03). Peter is a proud two-time UNB alumnus with a strong family legacy at UNB. An avid volunteer with the Alumni Office, he has served as an alumni councillor since 2015 and has volunteered extensively throughout the university community. Full story

Walter Learning (BA'61, MA'63) has been named a member of the Order of Canada. Patricia Bernard (BEd'96, LLB'99), Robyn Tingley (Board of Governors) and Abraham Walker (posthumous) have been named to the Order of New Brunswick. Full story

UNB professor named an RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant

UNB’s Ali Ghorbani (PhD'96) has received an RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award, recognizing his inspiring achievements and leadership. Ghorbani is Canada Research Chair in Cybersecurity, a professor of computer science, and director of UNB’s Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity, which he established in 2016. Full story

Gift supports legacy of beloved faculty

Ronald Lees has made a donation to UNB in memory of his late wife, Li-Hong Xu. The $210,000 gift will establish the Lorenzo Society Li-Hong Xu Memorial Fund and provide funding for the Physics Xu/Lees Student Conference Travel Fund. Full story
