The Red Shawl Campaign and the Wolastoqiyik Sisters in Spirit are working together to bring awareness as:
“E’pijik mawi kaqamultijik aqq apognmatultijik”
The Sisters Standing Together Campaign is an official collaborative between the Wolastoqiyik Sisters in Spirit (WSIS) Campaign and UNB – MWC’s Red Shawl Campaign (RSC), which is devoted to bringing awareness to the missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA in Canada.
In previous years, these campaigns were organized as separate, but mutually supportive, endeavours. Now our aim is to increase public education and commemoration. Join us as both of these campaigns work together in sharing the same message as we have united to show solidarity.
During the month of October, we encourage everyone to participate as, community members, university members, students and faculty as we work towards providing hope and healing for kinships and to reclaim justice for these women and their families.
We encourage everyone to participate in the actions that will take place throughout the various events within our province of New Brunswick. In particular, this initiative is an “innovative and poignant call for awareness, understanding, and action in true reconciliation and support, extends its commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
Let us not forget the indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA who have gone before us and uphold the tireless efforts to those who continue to advocate. Below is the schedule of events that will be in the Fredericton area and throughout the province.
