All vehicles parked at the UNB must have a valid permit or parking session.
It is the responsibility of anyone parking on campus to be familiar with the UNB parking regulations and to park in the appropriate area under their permit. Please direct any questions to parking@unb.ca which is monitored Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For urgent or after-hours matters, call 506-453-4830 (Fredericton) or 506-648-5675 (Saint John).
Faculty/staff and students can purchase long-term parking permits through UNB's new HotSpot portal to park in designated faculty, staff, student or residence parking spaces. All permit types will be valid in the general parking section. In the future, individuals can also use the HotSpot mobile app, pay-by-plate machines or meters (only on the Saint John campus) for hourly/daily parking.
As of September 2024, visitors can park in designated visitor spaces (one hour max) or in general parking lots by paying by the hour up to a day. This is also administered through HotSpot.
UNB parking permits can now be purchased through the HotSpot portal. Permits are virtual and are based on the licence plate. People parking on campus are responsible for ensuring their information is accurate and their permits are active.
UNB is committed to protecting the personal information of all members of the campus community. However, following UNB parking and traffic regulations, information collected from permit sales and fines issued will be used by designated staff for the enforcement of these regulations, regulating and administering permit sales, fine payments and data analysis to make improvements to parking and transportation management.
The purchase of a parking permit acknowledges acceptance of these terms. For more information on the protection of personal information at UNB, consult the University Secretariat.
You cannot purchase a parking permit for someone else within your HotSpot account. You will need to have that individual log into their HotSpot account and add your credit card information.
Once UCard Cash is available as a payment method (anticipating late fall), you will be able to make a UCard gift deposit and have them purchase their permit using UCard Cash from their HotSpot account.
Yes, payroll deduction will be available as a payment form for long-term parking permits from Aug. 26 to Sept. 27. There is a specific permit for Payroll Deduction that displays the purchasing price to $0. If you don’t see this option, please contact Financial Services to confirm your eligibility for Payroll Deduction.
Please note this does not include monthly permits. Payroll deductions will reopen as a form of payment during the winter. The exact dates for this have yet to be finalized.
This feature is not available currently as a form of payment. Please do not load money onto your UCard to pay for parking permits. If you require support, contact ucard@unb.ca.
At present, we ask you to use UNB’s HotSpot portal to purchase a permit. Functionality through the app is not yet available. Please check back later.
Yes, you will need a permit. Gym members will be able to purchase a community RED Recreation pass at the front desk in the Richard J. CURRIE CENTER. Please note that RED’s Recreation passes are unavailable for students, faculty and staff.
Yes, you can register multiple vehicles within UNB’s HotSpot portal. Please ensure you have your permit active on the correct vehicle once parked on campus.
All parking on campus is paid parking and requires a permit or valid parking session. You can purchase both through HotSpot.
If you have a disability, a regular parking permit is required. If you have a provincial parking placard for people with disabilities, you can take advantage of the many accessible parking spaces on campus.
While there is ample parking on campus, you may not always find it close to your destination. Arrive early in case you need to park farther away than expected.
To be more sustainable, UNB has eliminated plastic hanging tags and decals for regular permit types. Your vehicle’s permit will now be registered by the license plate number through UNB’s HotSpot portal.
UNB Security enforces parking to ensure that there are spaces available for permit holders. Being familiar with the parking and traffic regulations will help you avoid getting tickets or having your vehicle towed at your expense.

Ensure your ‘home city’ is set to ‘UNB’ (For NBCC, set it to UNB) or ‘STU’. Then re-add your credit card information and save it. To change your home city, go to Account, then Login & Account Info. After updating, you should be able to purchase your permit.

This means you already have an account with HotSpot using your LoginID@unb.ca email. Please try logging in at hotspotparking.com with that email address and your HotSpot password. If you don’t know your HotSpot password, use their ‘Forgot your Password’ link.
You won’t see any UNB permits using this account. Instead, click the 'Log in with Microsoft' button and log in with your LoginID@unb.ca to view available permits. If you want your name.name@unb.ca HotSpot account linked to your LoginID@unb.ca account, you can request this by emailing support@htsp.ca or calling 1-855-712-5888.
Go to hotspotparking.com and log in with your LoginID@unb.ca and your HotSpot password (not your UNB password). Next, update your city to 'UNB' by navigating to 'Account' → 'Login & Account Info.' Then, add or re-add your credit card information, even if you already have a wallet set up with HotSpot. After that, you can purchase your permit.
Log in to hotspotparking.com, then go to 'Account' → 'Login & Account Info' to ensure your email address is correct. You can also view your purchase history and receipts by going to 'Account' → 'Usage History.'
You can request to have your HotSpot accounts linked by contacting HotSpot support at support@htsp.ca or calling 1-855-712-5888. This will allow you to manage both accounts without switching between them.
