The aim of ergonomics is to create an effective workplace through proper workplace and job design.

Computer screen height, chair, desk, keyboard and mouse height and location as well as lighting, temperature and physical activity, all play an important role in contributing to a proper work environment.

Our department has been able to assist many persons with the information they require to arrange their workstation to prevent shoulder/backache/neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist pain, numbness or lack of circulation in fingers. In most situations it is simply a matter of rearranging equipment and cost is minimal. However, if the services of an ergonomic professional is required, departments are required to pay a fee of approximately $395.00 per hour.
