We recommend for an optimal experience that you do not use Google Chrome on an IOS/Apple operating system to complete the residence application. If you are using an IOS operating system, use an alternate browser (Safari, Firefox, etc.).
New students are assigned rooms on a first-come-first-served basis. Most years the residence fills by the end of May. If you apply and the residence is full, you will be placed on a waitlist.
If you're an international student, you'll need a study visa prior to sending the deposit as it is non-refundable.
Apply for residence at the same time you apply to study or very soon after.
Early in winter term, returning students can submit a re-admission form. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email with further instructions.
Returning students have the month of February to choose their rooms and roommate requests for the following Fall/Winter terms. The deadline to re-apply is March 1. After this date, returning student applications will go into the normal pool of prospective resident students applications and your roommate and room are not guaranteed.
Once you're admitted to live in residence by Residence Admissions, you'll need to fill out and submit a residence deposit. It is required before you can be accepted into residence.
The entire deposit will be forfeited if you cancel your room or if you don't accept the one reserved for you.
When applying for the fall and winter terms, you are given the opportunity to submit the residence deposit by credit card, at the time you submit your application. If you are unable to pay the residence deposit by credit card, you can contact unbresidenceapp@unb.ca for other payment options. Please note, alternative payment options such as banking transfers may result in a convenience fee being applied to your payment.
The deposit process is the same for new and returning students.
There are limited rooms, primarily in the Sir James Dunn residence, available for those students who wish to live in residence during the summer. You will be notified via email if your application is accepted by Residence Admissions.
Residence fees are due on the dates indicated on the fee schedule and are submitted to the Student Accounts office located in Philip W. Oland Hall.
