The following admission requirements must be met by all applicants to the MBA program in the Faculty of Business.
An undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university, equal to a Canadian four-year or 120 credit-hour program, is required.
The UNB School of Graduate Studies requires a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of "B" (or 3.0 on a 4.3 scale). Please note, a three year honours degree will also be considered.
The minimum requirement for admission is a GMAT score of 550; however, students with a CGPA of 3.2, on a 4.3 scale, or higher may be eligible for a GMAT waiver. The decision to waive the GMAT is the decision of the admission committee – a CGPA higher than 3.2 does not a guarantee a waiver.
If you previously completed other graduate level exams (e.g., GRE, LSAT, CAT, etc.) your exam results will be assessed according to the percentile achieved and if the score is equivalent to a 550 GMAT you won’t need to write the GMAT.
If English is not your first language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or equivalent, is required.*
The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 93 on the Internet based test) plus a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5.
If the TOEFL score or equivalent achieved is less than the acceptable level, applicants will be required to complete additional language training with Saint John College prior to joining the MBA program.
We accept the following English Language Tests in addition to the TOEFL:
If you find you are unable to meet the requirements outlined above, consider preparing yourself with the Pre-MBA program or the MBA Qualifying Year.
*This requirement may be waived if you have a recent secondary school diploma or university degree from an institution whose language of instruction is English and was completed in the previous five years. To be eligible for this waiver, you should also have spoken English in the workplace.
Applicants must have a minimum of two years consecutive full-time and relevant post-graduate professional work experience. Work experience acquired outside of Canada and accredited co-op work experience are valid. Management or executive-level experience is not necessary.
Include a current resume with your application. It should provide a detailed description of your professional experience. In addition, please write a one- to two-page personal statement explaining why you want to join the MBA program.
Three letters of recommendation, including academic and professional sources are required. One must be an academic reference. Please provide the contact information for your references in our application portal and we will reach out directly to source the recommendation letter.
The non-refundable application fee of $125 CDN is paid through the online application portal.
