Governance for the future of New Brunswick municipalities

March 26, 2021

New Brunswick has undertaken a process to address the financial, social, environmental and structural challenges faced by the province’s local governance system. This reform is intended to make local governance stronger, more sustainable and improve quality of life for New Brunswickers.

As New Brunswick’s national comprehensive post-secondary institution, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) is a trusted voice in major discussions and debates across our communities. UNB drives economic growth and social development by collaborating with government, industry and community partners to turn ideas into action.

To further serve the public good, UNB convened the first in a series of important conversations to help build a more prosperous and just future for New Brunswick. Bringing together key actors for a virtual roundtable focused on ‘governance for the future of New Brunswick municipalities’, UNB provided a platform for critical dialogue and exchange of views to nurture the provincial reform process and ensure positive action that will benefit communities, the economy and the lives of New Brunswickers.
