Kent County

Kent County is a low-lying coastal area facing the Northumberland Strait and includes a number of Acadian fishing villages, among them Bouctouche, Richibucto, and Bedec, as well as Kouchibouquac National Park.  

During the War of 1812, some of those fishing communities were fortified by local volunteers to guard against the threat of American privateers.
