Fredericton and Saint John have city buses, and many international students take public transportation every day. The bus drivers are kind to new students and you are welcome to ask them questions about how the bus systems works.
You need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work in Canada and to receive benefits and services from government programs. There is no cost to apply.

Once you have arrived in New Brunswick, you can submit an application for coverage under NB Medicare system. There is a fee for this.
The Multicultural Association of Fredericton has a number of community programs that are open to spouses and children of international students.
The Fredericton Regional Family Resource Centre has a number of programs for all families in Fredericton.
The Saint John Newcomers Centre provides wonderful support and referral services to newcomer families in the Saint John area.
