Graduate Level Course in Education.
This course will prepare learners to be leaders of Piluwitahasuwawsuwakon within the counselling profession as they nagivate therapeutic relationships with Indigenous people and communities. They will learn the practices of cultural allyship and literacy, humility and safety, collaboration, critical reflection, respect, and social justice. Students will experientially learn from and build relationships with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge keepers, counsellors, and community members. Finally, learners will demonstrate how they will become a leader of Piluwitahasuwawsuwakon in their counselling practice.Prerequisites: None
Graduate degree in Education and preferably University level teaching experience.
Course dates: July 2, 9, 16, 23, 28, 30 & August 6, 11 & 13. Hybrid delivery with in-person lectures in Saint John and virtual classes through distance technology.
