Course Description

ADM 3435

Examines the role of financial markets and institutions in the transfer of funds in Canada. Reviews the nature of assets and liabilities of financial institutions in the current regulatory framework. Considers the management of assets and liabilities of key depository and non-depository organizations, illiquidity risk, funding risk, default risk, and regulatory risk.

MBA 6426

Covers the flow of funds in an economy and interest rate determination. Financial intermediaries are examined with particular attention to their regulations, the composition of their assets and liabilities, and their changing relative importance. May also cover the monetary policy process in Canada. Attention is given to current developments in financial markets.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Master's level degree in a field relevant to the topic area as well as for business disciplines having work or practice experience, or having been an actively serving member of a board of directors, or having had significant participation in professional associations or standard/policy-making bodies within the last five years. PhD is preferred. Consideration may be given to applicants possessing an undergraduate degree in combination with a relevant professional designation. Previous experience teaching in a university environment will be considered an asset.
