Aquatics 

REDS Recreation combined and/or aquatic members have access to the Sir Max Aitken (SMA) Pool, which is housed in the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium.

The SMA pool has six lanes, a temperature of 80°F and a length of 25 metres with a diving tank. It is used by athletes, community user groups and clubs from morning to night. Outside user groups can book pool time by contacting Valerie MacFarlane at 453-4564 or equip@unb.ca.

REDS Recreation's schedule includes designated time for lap swims and dive tank access. Open recreation and family swim are open for all ages.

Swim lessons

Registration for our winter program will begin Saturday, November 30 at 2:30 p.m. Registration will be available online or in person at the Client Services Desk of The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER.  

Group lessons and limited private lessons will be offered on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lessons will be held from January 11 to March 29 (10 weeks) at the Sir Max Aitken Pool in the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium.

Fees:
Group Lessons - From $90 for members - $145 for non-members (depending upon length of lesson)
Private Lessons - $120 for members; $145 for non members (30 minute lesson)

We are pleased to offer Beginner Adult Group swim lessons on Saturdays mornings. Choose from Beginner (no swim experience) to Skill & Stroke Improvement (some swim experience required).

Lifesaving society courses

Prerequisites: 15 years old and completion of Bronze Cross certification

The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course prepares the instructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, planning skills, and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. The course is 20 hours in duration. Course fees include the Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Pack and certification fees.

Fees: $170 for members; $190 for non-members plus HST
