We offer six undergraduate degree programs:
These programs have national accreditation under the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
We offer a minor program for students in other departments of the Faculty of Science or outside who are interested in a coherent package of chemistry courses.
If you’re interested in graduate studies and research after your undergraduate degree, we encourage you to pursue the chemistry stream.
If you’re interested in graduate studies or a career in a health-related field, we encourage you to pursue the Medicinal Chemistry stream.
This program was originally designed with a career in pharmacy in mind, but it offers courses to enhance your experience as you prepare for any health-related career. This program also provides all the necessary preparation to follow a career in research with several lab courses options.
You are eligible for a co-op placement as soon as the summer which follows your first year. Our students have obtained positions locally and abroad as far away as Germany!
This option, unique to UNB, targets students who express an interest in research can take CHEM2009 and CHEM3009 where they’ll work with a research supervisor.
UNB offers Biology-Chemistry and Chemistry-Program, based on existing courses and the need of students proceeding into an interdisciplinary area or who wish to combine two areas of specialization.
These programs are administered jointly by the two departments concerned and students are counseled in planning their programs by both departments.
Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is required for all students who wish to take CHEM lab courses. These workshops will be provided.
We encourage students to join the Undergraduate Chemistry Society which is active in tutoring and other academic matters.
