The University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Nursing offers the unique opportunity for students to work in the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre — a partnership with Horizon Health Network. Over the last 15 years, the centre has served as a living laboratory for student education and provided care to thousands of vulnerable members of our community.
Note: This is not the UNB Student Health Centre.
Gain hands-on experience in a leading practice model that integrates health service delivery, education and research — unique in Canada. The clinic is a leader in integrative services, with community access room with showers, laundry facilities and a full kitchen for patient use.
Collaborating with primary care providers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, dietitians, psychologists and registered social workers will provide you with a complex understanding of the healthcare system. We believe that opportunities like these fuel creative thinking and help our students to reach their full potential.
We work with vulnerable populations including the poor, homeless, refugees and those without a family physician. The centre provides a unique opportunity for our researchers to identify research with the potential to make changes in the healthcare system that improve our services and directly impact our communities.
