Prepare for the future of investing

Prepare for a specialized career in quantitative investing with the University of New Brunswick’s one-of-a-kind Master in Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM).

Our innovative, one-year graduate degree gives you marketable, high-value career skills to propel you into this new era of investment management that combines finance, economics, mathematics, data analysis and coding.

Our one-year program runs from August to July. Courses are taught by financial experts from both the investment industry and UNB faculty.

Quantitative investment management pulls together tools from finance, economics, applied mathematics and computer programs. Quantitative investors — “quants” — combine skills from these disciplines to analyze data and make wiser, safer investment decisions. Learn to address problems in derivative securities valuation, dynamic investment strategies and risk management.

“MQIM grads would be well placed to succeed in quantitative investment and risk management roles at firms such as the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan," says Jon Spinney, chief investment officer and vice-president quantitative investing, Vestcor Investment Management Corporation. "These firms recruit heavily from quantitative masters programs."


As part of the MQIM program, you will enhance your leadership skills with weekly, hands-on professional development sessions from experts and our award-winning faculty members. And take advantage of the partnerships and connections we have built with industry through the Centre for Financial Studies.


Entrance awards, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, will be granted to MQIM students based on academic merit. All applicants will be be automatically considered for an entrance award when their application is reviewed for admission. No separate application is required.

Meet our 2023-2024 class

Omotayo Bolatito Wabara

I am Omotayo Bolatito Wabara from Nigeria. Alongside my master’s degree in Developmental Finance, I am an AML Specialist. I am also honoured to be a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an Associate of the Compliance Institute of Nigeria.

I seek to deepen my understanding of quantitative investment management and arm myself with tools to drive data-driven decisions. Personally, I find joy in gardening and cherishing moments with my loved ones.


Udoh Kennedy Ekene

I am Udoh Kennedy Ekene with a diverse academic background. Holding a Masters in Process Engineering and an MBA in Finance, I am also a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Professional.

My passion for problem-solving and data analysis drives me as I pursue the MQIM program at UNB. I aspire to become a financial data analyst and an investment consultant. To relax and rejuvenate, I find solace in practicing yoga.


Rexford Nimako-Bresiamah

I am Rexford Nimako-Bresiamah, a Ghanaian holding a B.Sc. in Statistics with Computer Science and a Master's degree in Statistics from the University of Ghana.

My aspirations revolve around building a career in data analytics and investment management, which is why I find UNB’s MQIM program an ideal fit for my goals. For relaxation, I listen to inspirational songs and play soccer.


Abdessamih El Kadaoui (Sam)

I hail from the stunning city of Casablanca. My name is Sam, and my passion lies in numbers. I earned my Associate degree in Mathematics from El Camino College in California, followed by a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Hassan II University, Casablanca.

My current role is actuarial analyst, and I wish to transition into a quantitative analyst role. When numbers start crowding my mind, I find comfort in playing guitar and video games.


Ngozi Nancy Nzekwe

I am Nancy from Nigeria with a B.Sc. in Accountancy, an M.Sc. in Professional Accountancy, and an MBA in Finance. Additionally, I am a proud member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

My journey through the commercial and corporate realms of banking sparked a desire to transition into the investment world. The MQIM program stands as the perfect platform to fulfil my career aspirations.

To unwind, I like going for walks with close friends and also enjoy swimming.
