Our research covers a range of behaviours, health conditions and approaches. Example projects that the lab is involved in include;

  • Deck of change: Educational card game to teach behaviour change techniques
  • Get your streak on: Examining streaking as a behaviour change technique for habit formation
  • New Brunswick Weight Loss Study: Survey to assess weight loss perceptions and behaviours in New Brunswickers
  • Game of Stones: Randomised controlled trial of text messages and financial incentives for men with obesity to lose weight
  • Supporting Mums Study: Randomised controlled trial testing ways to support mums with weight management by using text messages
  • We Walk: Dyadic intervention to support walking with a buddy after stroke
  • KATS: Keeping Active with Texting after Stroke
  • Art of Creation: Explaining early origins science through art
  • ABA study: Assets-based feeding help Before and After birth

Obesity

We are investigating how to support individuals with obesity lose weight and keep it off.

Help-seeking behaviour

We investigate the factors that help or hinder those experiencing health conditions such as stroke in seeking help immediately by contacting emergency medical services.

Pre-conception

We are interested in finding out the best ways of supporting women and men give their unborn children the best start in life focusing on optimal preparation prior to conception.

Mobile technology

We use mHealth technologies such as text messages to develop scalable and interventions which can reach people anytime anyplace.

Sunsafety

We promote sunsafety behaviours, focusing particularly on young adults in school-based contexts.

Behaviour change maintenance

We are interested in exploring the factors that explain how people maintain behaviour changes in the long-term following initiation.
