The Faculty of Arts at UNB Fredericton is pleased to be hosting the ninth edition of our undergraduate academic conference, Arts Matters, from March 21 - 24, 2024. This year's conference will focus on the following question "How do we navigate change together in an age of uncertainty?"
This year's panel events, workshops, and artwork will focus on the challenges, strategies, and approaches we can take to navigate uncertainty in our rapidly changing social, environmental and technological worlds.
We acknowledge that the lands on which the University of New Brunswick is situated are the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati (Passamaquoddy). These Indigenous Nations and their territories are governed by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati co-developed and signed with the British Crown in the 18th century. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands, waters or resources, and in fact recognized Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati title and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between the Nations.
