This introductory course explores the nature of dreaming, beginning with Sigmund Freud through to contemporary neurocognitive science. We also read debates about the nature of dreaming in philosophy starting with Plato and Aristotle, then Descartes, through to present-day philosophers who wonder whether dreaming poses a challenge to our conception of reality itself.
