BIOL3013Advanced Genetics3 ch (3C)

Develop knowledge about genetic analysis and its applications in research. Among the topics, we explore: (a) gene types and approaches used to identify and characterize them, (b) use of model organisms, (c) effects of DNA packaging and epigenetics on genes, (d) forward and reverse genetics, (e) human genetic variation, and (f) selected applications of genetic analysis. We develop an uderstanding of the concepts of experimental design, methodology, and interpretation of results by examining specific examples from the research literature.

Prerequisites: One of the pairs (BIOL 2013 and BIOL 2018) or (BIOL 2053, and BIOL 2013),  BIOL 2023, BIOL 2103 or equivalent.
