In June 2018, at the International Conference on Tourism (ICOT2018) held in Kavala, Greece, Professor Keith Dewar was honoured with the ICOT Lifetime Achievement Award for his research and service to the profession. Dr. Dewar was also a keynote speaker at the conference, talking about his recent research on tourism in Iceland: “Tourism in Hólar or Not? The case of a reluctant rural destination.”
Seniors on a Cruise: “My resort floats!” Qualitative evaluation of seniors (55 years of age and over) and why they take cruises and what their needs are. Involves 100 interviews and content analysis of 1200 seniors’ reviews of cruise ship experience.
“Do you want New York Fries with your Beijing Duck” (update): Belgian chocolate, Black Forest Cake, Champagne, Beijing Duck, Harbin Beer and thousands of other products have a direct place name associations. The connection between geographical place name and associated foods or beverages is at present confused and complex. This paper is an exploratory journey into this relationship. It is hoped it will bring some order and direction to the subject area and provide some direction for future study.
Tung Xiao Yi and China’s First Public Park. The little known history of one of the first public parks and its evolution. The story of a Republican elite that turned his attention to the people of China. Developed a 200 hectare park for the people.
