For students who are entering their second year of studies, you need to select your courses before seeing the Academic Advisor.
The Academic Advisor will not select your courses for you but is here to guide you through gathering the information needed so you successfully complete your degree.
If you have decided on a major or two disciplines for double major, please go to the advising information for Upper-year students where you will find the Faculty Advisor information. You can declare your major (or double majors) with the discipline specific Faculty Advisor once you have completed 10 term-courses. The Faculty Advisor becomes your advisor until you graduate.
Students who are undecided on a major or two disciplines for a double major, you will see Tanya Pitt.
Using the undergraduate calendar, you can look at course descriptions and determine if there are course prerequisites. Or you can use the course catalogue in your My UNB Intranet.
Fall 2023 (23/FA) and Winter 2024 (24/WI) terms opened in mid-March 2023 for continuing students.
Remember to have with you at the appointment an updated copy of your unofficial UNB transcript, which you can get through your e-services under the academic tab.
Advising appointments for the first two weeks of classes (Sept. 6-15) can be booked for in-person advising or virtual advising through Teams. These appointments will be 20 minutes in length, so please come to the appointment prepared with your questions/concerns. You'll need to login to your myUNB account before booking an appointment.
If you email Tanya at sjadvising@unb.ca please be sure that you include your name, student number and your career/educational goals along with the list of courses that you are registered for or are interested in. Tanya will look your selections over and make recommendations based on all of this information.
Due to asthma and allergies please refrain from smoking and wearing perfume, cologne, deodorant, after-shave, body sprays, and other scented products when you come to the office for advising. Thank you.
