Hirbod Abootalebi from Fredericton, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science with honours in Biology-Chemistry.
Hirbod’s dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and making health promotion more inclusive has led him to volunteer his time as president of the UNB Health Science Society, co-president of UNB S.P.R.I.N.G. and a peer mentor for the Science Student Leadership Program.
Sheridan Hamilton from Fredericton, New Brunswick, is enrolled in a Bachelor of Science, honours in Biology with a minor in Anthropology.
As a mentor, coach and volunteer, Sheridan is helping UNB students, young athletes and community members find their paths during various seasons of life. She lends her time and talents to the Science Student Leadership Program, Fredericton Fastpitch Association and Pine Grove Nursing Home.
Rose He from Fredericton, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Rose’s desire to dedicate her time and talent toward benefiting the community is evident in her volunteering with Pine Grove Nursing Home and everything she does. As a president of the Atlantic Council of Engineering Students, she is a strong advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. As the president and founder of the UNB Environmental Society, she approaches climate advocacy through a lens of social justice and community health.
Molly Kennedy from Ottawa, Ontario, is pursuing a Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Studies with a minor in Management.
Molly’s work to engage students in the UNB community is helping to create a space where everyone feels welcome and valued. She helps connect students to each other and the larger UNB community through her work as the Student Union director of campus events, co-president of the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society, peer mentor for the faculty of kinesiology and director of operations for UNB Women in Sport.
Lauren McGrath from Saint John, New Brunswick, will graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Biology-Chemistry.
Driven by a love of science, Lauren is helping other students find their passion for science through science fairs, research and in-person programs. As a Canada-Wide Science Fair ambassador, president of the Chemistry Society and Editor-in-chief of the Atlantic Student Research Journal, she has worked to develop spaces where people can share knowledge and create opportunities for everyone to achieve success.
Dustin McKee from Willow Grove, New Brunswick, is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science, Honours in Biology-Chemistry.
Dustin’s belief in the ability of community to support and empower people to achieve success has inspired him to dedicate his time as Chair of the Atlantic Student Research Journal, founder and co-chair of the Connect the Thoughts Interdisciplinary Health Case Competition and peer mentor for the Science Student Leadership Program. Through his work creating connections to achieve a common goal, he has helped connect students with researchers and innovators across Atlantic Canada.
Kate Palmer from Rothesay, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Specialization in Neuroscience.
As the women’s representative for the Student Union, Kate used her advocacy skills to co-create the UNB Menstrual Health Society, which provides free, accessible menstrual products across the Fredericton campus and education on menstrual hygiene and sustainable period products on campus and in the community. Through her service with the UNB Menstrual Health Society, Liberty Lane Second Stage and Global Brigades, Kate is helping communities in New Brunswick and beyond reach their full potential.
Bhaanvi Rai from Mangalore, India, is enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration, Honours in Human Resource Management.
Bhaanvi brings passion to her work in advocacy for new Canadians, people of colour and people who are neurodiverse. As the Director of Advocacy for Shades of Change, she uses her talents to develop training modules on microaggressions and racism. To help raise awareness and resources for Alzheimer’s, she assisted in the creation of a book. She also donates her time to helping others as a mentor with the faculty of management.
