Statistics provides a set of tools that can be used to gain insight and answer practical questions using data, which always begins with describing data. This two-part course prestented by Dr. Sandra Magalhaes, (i) focuses on developing an understanding of the basic tools used to explore and describe data, and (ii) provides an overview of methods to generate and present summary statistics. The course includes a comprehensive introduction to statistical topics ranging from identifying different data types (continuous, binary), describing central tendency (average, median) and corresponding variability (standard deviation). By the end of the course, attendees are familiar with and able to summarize different data types in tables and graphs.
