It’s one thing to implement a program – it’s a whole other matter to determine if the program works and how it can be improved. This is where MEKTU comes in.
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Transfer Unit (MEKTU) is the new program evaluation unit in NB-IRDT, currently supporting healthy aging in Canada through program evaluation of the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project.
A $75 million agreement between the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick, the Health Seniors Pilot Project supports pilot programs to improve the lives of seniors. At MEKTU, the team is busy applying their interests in creative aging and mental wellness, recreation and outdoor activities for seniors, and health economics to help lay this groundwork of evidence-based best practices for healthy aging in New Brunswick and across the country.
Welcome to the team
NB-IRDT welcomes Jane Breckenridge as the Associate Director of MEKTU. Jane has joined MEKTU after most recently leading the Seniors and Healthy Aging Secretariat in the Department of Social Development. In this role, she led the implementation of the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project. With a B.A. (Economics), an M.B.A., and over 25 years of experience and leadership in research, medical associations, and government departments across Canada, Jane comes to us well-equipped to establish MEKTU as a hub of program evaluation expertise in New Brunswick.
