
Colby Arsenault, from Saint John, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a major in Chemical Engineering, a minor in Mathematics and a Diploma in Technology Management & Entrepreneurship.
Colby’s commitment to engineering shines through in his work both inside and outside the classroom. He was the co-chair of the 2025 Canadian Engineering Leadership Conference and was president of the UNBSJ Engineering Undergraduate Society. He also helps his fellow students overcome challenges and build confidence as a tutor at the UNBSJ Help Centre and the UNBF Success Centre.

Pavitha Arumaithurai, from Toronto, Ontario, is pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education.
Education and inclusion have provided the foundation for Pavitha’s academic pursuits, as well as in her volunteer work. As a volunteer tutor for a student on the autism spectrum, Pavitha says she has “learned the importance of patience, empathy and the profound impact that personalized support can have on someone's growth.” She has also dedicated time to addressing food insecurity by volunteering with the North York Harvest Food Bank.

Dahlia Chahine, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, is pursuing a Juris Doctor.
Dahlia’s devotion to the importance and impact of law has shaped her time at UNB. She served as president of the Feminist Legal Association, and as vice president of the Law Students’ Society, where she supported and facilitated the creation of many different clubs and societies within the law school. She also acted as 1L and 2L Faculty Council Representative with the Law Students' Society, a role that helps ensure decisions are being made with students in mind.

Shawn Daley, from Saint John, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
Shawn is a dedicated student, pursuing the engineering discipline both inside and outside of academia. Whether it is through his work as the vice president external of the UNBSJ Engineering Undergraduate Society or collecting sponsorships for the Atlantic Council of Engineering Students’ competitions, Shawn helps the engineering community thrive. Notably, he brings his passion and leadership to the beloved Saint John Soap Box Derby, coaching students from local schools.

Annie Marie Ferrer, from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in Law in Society and Psychology.
Annie Marie has lent her legal talents to many initiatives here at UNB. She was the undergraduate migrant justice legal assistant at the Madhu Verma Migrant Justice Centre and was the founder and president of the UNB Law in Society Student Association. She also volunteered as peer supporter at UNB Counselling Services and was the sustainable partnership coordinator at the UNB Menstrual Health Society.

Lauren Lockhart, from Sussex, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with honours.
Harnessing the power of movement, skill building and cooperation has underpinned Lauren’s time at UNB. Her work as co-president with the university’s Students Pairing to Reach Individual Needs & Goals program has brought sport and swimming to those with disabilities, helping to enrich their lives. She has also served as a student ambassador within the faculty of kinesiology and as a companion to those with disabilities through the UNB Best Buddies program.

Kylie MacKenzie, from Quispamsis, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with honours in English.
Kylie has spent her time at UNB immersed in writing and student journalism. She has worked her way up from cub reporter to becoming the editor-in-chief of the Saint John campus independent student press, The Baron, while also acting as the eastern representative for the Canadian University Press. She has also worked as a research assistant in the department of English and has volunteered as a peer note taker in all her classes.

Savannah McBride, from Fredericton, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing.
Community aid and outreach has been the cornerstone of Savannah’s career aspirations and the foundation of her volunteer work, on both a local and global scale. She worked in Peru, Haiti and South Africa building housing and schools with the international faith-based NGO Global Outreach. Closer to home, her work with York Sunbury Search and Rescue, and as a UNB nursing peer mentor, brings real life experience to her academic interests.

Allyson Murray, from Rothesay, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science major in Biology-Chemistry.
Allyson is a dedicated scientist who has spent her time outside the classroom promoting the discipline as the co-chair of Girls STEM Up. She has spent time abroad, providing medical and infrastructure support in Honduras through Medical Brigade. She has also volunteered with UNB Best Buddies and You Can Ride 2, working with people with disabilities in the community.

Ogooluwa Christine Ojo Abegunde, from Nigeria, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology.
Building a strong Saint John community is a thread that has carried through Ogooluwa Christine’s work both on and off campus. She gathers and analyzes data as a volunteer research assistant with the Canada East Spine Centre and also gives back to local high school students via mentorship through the Promise Partnership program, all while providing crucial volunteer support to RiverCross Church hospitality and the YMCA Community Action Network.

Ella Paul, from Saint John, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology.
Ella has found her passion volunteering with UNB initiatives that create inclusive and safe spaces on campus. She has served as a Sexual Violence New Brunswick Support Line volunteer and as the logistics coordinator for the UNB Reproductive Justice Society. She has also dedicated her time to increasing accessibility and awareness and providing education with the UNB Menstrual Health Society and the University Women's Centre.

Alexa Pelletier, from Grand Falls, New Brunswick, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics.
Alexa has been a champion of inclusivity throughout her academic career and in her extracurricular pursuits. From her work with the Atlantic Council of Engineering Students as the equity, diversity, and belonging commissioner to her role as a peer mentor with the UNB Engineering Faculty, as well as in her position as president of the Diversity Within Engineering organization.

Emma Smith, from Ottawa, Ontario, is pursuing a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Leadership with a minor in Public Policy.
Emma is a believer in the power of community engagement to find solutions to big problems. As the president of the Renaissance College Society, she works with students and faculty to implement various events, advocacy opportunities and community outreach initiatives. She’s also been actively involved with Scouts Canada and as a peer mentor.

Arnab Taranga, from Dhaka, Bangladesh, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Sociology and a minor in Criminology.
Arnab has placed UNB’s Fredericton campus and its students at the heart of his many volunteer efforts. At the UNB Student Union, he has worked as orientation vice chair, fundraising chair and as an inclusion representative, showing students from all backgrounds that they have a place on campus and that their actions can make a positive difference. He also co-founded the social justice initiative, Heart to Heart, which raises awareness of Indigenous culture on campus, particularly with international students.
