The University of New Brunswick Saint John welcomes applications for the position of Accommodations & Food Service Coordinator with Student Affairs & Services. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $45,210 - $56,511 per annum.
The Accommodations & Food Service Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating efficient operations, professional service, accurate and timely administrative functions, and successful business development/growth of summer residence accommodations and summer hotel. In addition, the Coordinator monitors Food Service outlets and manages the day-to-day communication with the food service provider.
Position Summary:
- Promote and provide high-quality service to current and prospective clients.
- Develop specific revenue targets and detail a plan to meet those targets.
- Hire, train, and supervise all summer student staff.
- Manage all accommodations software. Liaise with any support providers.
- Prepare deposits and reconcile summer accommodations accounts.
- Prepare regular financial updates as requested.
- Troubleshoot issues pertaining to students, clients, and guests.
- Coordinate transition period at the beginning and end of summer including moving students, check-in/check-out process, and enforcing policies.
- Provide daily direction concerning housekeeping requirements.
- Coordinate and take part in on-call responsibility after hours and on weekends during summer months to respond to the 24-hour nature of the accommodations business.
- Oversee the online booking agencies. Manage inventory, update listings, and reconcile reservations.
- Assist with the implementation of the new food service contract beginning in July 2023.
- Visit all food service locations regularly. Monitor for contract compliance. Provide regular updates to the Senior Director, Administration. Troubleshoot any food service-related concerns.
- Consult with students via surveys and meetings to monitor student satisfaction.
- Advise internal/external guests on access to catering/food service exclusions in the contract.
- Book space for meetings, special events, presentations, etc.
- Oversee all aspects of the residence system access control system, including key management.
- Act as the backup for the Residence Administrative Coordinator, as required.
Requirements/Skills:
- College diploma in a related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience in the hospitality /hotel/tourism industry will be considered.
- A university degree in business or hospitality/tourism would be an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Supervisory experience would be considered an asset.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, often under deadlines.
- First Aid and mental health first aid.
- Microsoft Office Suite fluency.
- Hotel front desk experience would be considered an asset.
