The Department of Humanities & Languages at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John invites applications for a tenure-track position to teach literature from North America, as well as literatures from Indigenous, BIPOC, or LGBTQ2SIA+ communities. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is housed within an interdisciplinary department that includes English, Philosophy, French, and Spanish. Our small, interdisciplinary department has a reputation for high-quality teaching and is located on unceded Wolastoqey lands in New Brunswick's historic port city of Saint John/Menahkwesk. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2023 and is subject to budget approval.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in literature written in English from North America with relevance to one or more of the following fields: Indigenous Literature, literature from BIPOC communities, and/or literature from LGBTQ2SIA+ communities. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated record of excellence in university teaching and research or evidence of the potential to develop such a record. Teaching assignments will be at the undergraduate level and typically the 3/2 teaching load will include introductory and upper-level undergraduate classes.

Letters of application, preferably in electronic format, must include a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a statement reviewing research interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e., a teaching dossier), and three academic letters of reference.
