When considering a career, Jessica Hinton knew she wanted to enjoy the great outdoors. The archeology and anthropology programs at UNB were a perfect fit for the Woodstock native.
Through her first two years, she has maintained excellent grades, held down two part-time jobs, one at the Harriet Irving Library as a student assistant and another at the UNB Student Accessibility Centre, where she is a note taker. She also volunteered with Nature NB, the Canadian Annual Physical Anthropology (CAPA) meeting, and the university’s Undergraduate Anthropology Society.
Donor investments in facilities, such as the recently upgraded anthropology lab, have provided Jessica with a state-of-the-art learning environment in which to develop her skills and gain a critical understanding of her course work.
Thanks to scholarship support from donors, she is also able to participate in extracurricular activities without sacrificing her high academic standards.
“It is great to know hard work is recognized,” said Jessica of the support. “It gives me an opportunity to grow in ways I could not have done if I did not have their help.”
