The Faculty of Arts at UNB Fredericton is pleased to be hosting the 10th edition of our undergraduate academic conference, Arts Matters, from March 20-22, 2025. The theme of this year's event is "Learning through community: collaborative approaches to creating and knowing."
We acknowledge that the lands on which the University of New Brunswick is situated are the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati (Passamaquoddy). These Indigenous Nations and their territories are governed by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati co-developed and signed with the British Crown in the 18th century. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands, waters or resources, and in fact recognized Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati title and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between the Nations.
