Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Leadership (BPhil)
Become part of a warm and friendly community of learners. Approximately 30 students of all ages and backgrounds are accepted into our program each year, progressing through the core program as a group.
An interdisciplinary approach to leadership
Not a single person or discipline holds mastery of the subject of leadership. Our faculty members work together to draw upon their disciplines and enhance your learning opportunities.
The core courses and the elective courses provide a solid interdisciplinary foundation that allows you to explore a variety of subjects, while the minor allows you to tailor your degree to personal interests.

Approximately 60% of the courses are taken at Renaissance College with the remaining selected from other UNB faculties.
Renaissance College students complete a minor as part of their degree. With over 40 UNB minors to choose from, there is something for everyone at Renaissance College. Options include:

A core program with a variety of perspectives and experiences
Study with faculty across UNB and see the world with a focused eye through a wide lens.
Our discussion-based courses involve a variety of experiential components such as:
- site visits
- guest practitioners
- community-based projects
- service learning
Opportunities for directed studies and practicum experiences are also available for you to develop your own learning focus or hone your leadership skills.
Internships
Our BPhil program includes two full-term, mentored and facilitated leadership-oriented internships.
- Domestic: The first internship can be paid or volunteered. The focus is on leadership in the professional environment.
- International: The second internship is designed as a cross-cultural learning experience.
An accelerated degree
One of the distinguishing features of the BPhil degree is the opportunity to complete the degree in three years. This is accomplished by participating in our unique summer internships. Renaissance College students put their learning into action through a Canadian internship – after the first year – and an international internship – after the second year.
Students can also choose a traditional four-year route.
Other options
You might also want to continue your studies in a particular discipline which would then allow you to finish a second degree in a reduced time frame. This would allow for a concentration in another subject that would be preparation for further study or joining the professional world.
Those wishing to enter the medical or dental field often complete our MCAT/DAT option that allows them to prepare for entrance exams.
