Dr. Hassan’s research interests are focused primarily on the environmental and geoenvironmental fields, including sustainable environmental solutions, ground improvement and remediation of soil and groundwater. Dr. Hassan’s vision includes using innovative solutions and sustainable alternatives that result in minimum disturbance to subsurface conditions.
Dr. Hassan’s experience covers the design of experimental setups, data analysis, mathematical modelling, data processing, data interpretation and the use of electrokinetics to remediate soil contaminated with heavy metals.
Dr. Hassan has developed an innovative technique to enhance heavy metal removal by electrokinetics. In his research, Dr. Hassan has used solar panels to generate power for electrokinetic treatment. Solar energy is environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and suitable for treating contaminated soil and mine tailings at remote and abandoned sites with no active power lines or electricity.
