Dr. Lorna Butler is a full professor and dean in the Faculty of Nursing at the Fredericton campus and Moncton site of the University of New Brunswick. Dr. Butler received her PhD from the University of Toronto, Institute of Medical Science. She has practiced nursing in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan prior to coming to New Brunswick. Her area of clinical specialization has been in oncology/ hematology.
Current research interests are in the pedagogy of distributive learning methodologies with an emphasis on policy development for the application of advanced technologies in nursing education. Much of Dr. Butler's work has been the use of robotics to address determinants of health by connecting Indigenous communities in rural, remote and north regions of the circumpolar world.
Dr. Butler aspires to the "art of what is possible" through mutually, meaningful partnerships with our global communities.
