Akhila Chawla is an Assistant professor of Accounting in the Faculty of Business Administration. Dr. Chawla holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Accounting) from the Schulich School of Business, York University; a Master in Business Administration from the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University; and a Bachelor of Commerce. Her industry experience includes the positions of Senior Financial Analyst and Manager in the field of Investment Banking and Private Equity.
Dr. Chawla teaches introductory and advanced financial accounting courses. Her research interests include social accounting and accountability; management accounting and management control systems; and accounting, accountability and governance in governmental and non-profit organizations. She has been a part of the organizing team for conferences such as Critical Perspectives on Accounting and Alternative Accounts Conference.
Accounting & Accountability in Emerging Economies Conference, University of Essex, Colchester, UK, 27-29 June, 2018. Her presentation, "Social Audit, Accounting and Accountability", was awarded “The Best Emerging Paper Award.”
