Sudaba Yameen joins the Faculty of Law as Visiting Practitioner. Before coming to Canada, Ms. Yameen was a judge of the Elementary Court of Kapisa Province of Afghanistan for over four years. Prior to that, she worked as a lawyer and legal advisor to Women for Afghan Women and global rights organizations. She is a graduate of the Judicial Institute of Afghanistan in Kabul and holds a Bachelor of Sharia Law from Kabul University.
During her stay at the Faculty, Ms. Yameen will work on a legal research project titled, The Impact of the Taliban Regime on Women’s Access to Justice: A Case Study of Divorce. She will present her work to our community in late fall.
Her time at UNB Law is funded by the Faculty of Law's Heritage Fund and is a collaboration with the International Association of Women Judges.
