Roger Ploude

Roger Ploude joined the English Department in 1972 as a specialist in 19th Century Poetry and Prose non-fiction. During his career, he taught Romantic and Victorian literature at all levels and was recognized for his instruction with the Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in teaching in 1991. A past editor and business manager of The Fiddlehead and a co-founder of Studies in Canadian Literature, he chaired the English Department for 18 years and was awarded the President's Medal for outstanding service to the Department and University in March 2010.

He was appointed to the rank of Emeritus Professor following his retirement. Dr. Ploude is currently teaching in the Department part time and continues his research on early 19th Century literature, focusing on the Enlightenment and its impact on the emergence of British Romanticism.
