Dr. Summer Wood (she/her/they) is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology. She holds a PhD from New York University, specializing in medical and legal anthropology, and an MPH from the University of Michigan, specializing in global health and maternal child health. Dr. Wood has more than 10 years of research experience on a variety of research projects, based in Tanzania, Australia, and the U.S. Her PhD research on birth registration, health systems, and human rights in Tanzania was funded by the National Science Foundation and Wenner-Gren Foundation. She enjoys mentoring student research projects in the social sciences, gender studies, and health sciences, and is available as a resource for students who are interested in research topics related to health, gender, families, law, and social justice.
