Title: Laser Based Studies of Iron Monohydride (FeH): Research in Support of the (2)4Ф State
Abstract: The (2)4Ф electronic state in FeH was discovered in late 2022 at UNB using a microwave discharge source. We have since created iron hydride in a cooled 50 K pulsed jet source and probed (2)4Ф both with continuous and pulsed laser radiation. With our colder source we have been able to resolve further structure caused by the spin contribution from the hydrogen atom and measure the lifetime of the lowest energy level in (2)4Ф. Furthermore, we have implemented the software package MARVEL to generate the first ever comprehensive known term energy list for FeH. This has caught the interest of the London-based ExoMol group as it puts the energy levels in a format that they can theoretically extend for astronomical purposes. Finally, we have updated the laser used in our Fourier transform spectrometer allowing us to better search for red laser-induced fluorescence signals. This is vital as that is where (2)4Ф fluoresces the strongest.
